The IMEI number used to identify cell phones

  • Every cell phone and mobile device that is operated with a SIM card has a so-called IMEI number (International Mobile Equipment Identity) for unique identification.
  • This is a 15-digit serial number that is assigned individually to each individual device. This means that each individual device can be identified using the IMEI number.
  • To find out the IMEI number for your mobile phone, you basically have two different options: On the one hand, the IMEI number is on every mobile phone or Smartphone printed somewhere. Most of the time, you can see the IMEI number when you take the battery out of your phone as it is often stuck underneath. The serial number is also stored in the software of your mobile phone.

This is how you can find out the serial number of your cell phone

  • As already mentioned, one possibility is to read the serial number of your cell phone on the sticker. With most devices, remove the battery under which there is a sticker with the exact device name and IMEI number.
  • Another possibility is that you can display the IMEI number via the software of your mobile phone. With many devices you can query this in the menu.
  • Locating the SIM card - notes

Unlike in the past, there are many ways to locate a cell phone today. …

  • If this does not work on your device, you can also query the IMEI number using a standardized key code. This is: "* # 06 *" (please enter without quotation marks). You will then be given the IMEI number of your mobile phone or Smartphones shown on the display.

Incidentally, entering this code and displaying the IMEI number also works without an inserted SIM card.
