Where does mitosis take place?

Mitosis takes place all the time in living organisms. It ensures that a complete set of genetic material is available again in two new cells that are created through cell division.

Cell nucleus division takes place in organisms

The division of the nucleus is mitosis. It is a sub-process of cell division and ensures that new cells that result from cell division receive the necessary genetic material. This is the only way to ensure that cells divide in a meaningful way, because every cell needs a nucleus.

The cell nucleus is thus doubled by mitosis, which paves the way for cell division.

Mitosis is divided into five phases. These include the anaphase, the metaphase, the prophase, the prometaphase and the telophase. Mitosis is carried out during the individual phases.

Process of mitosis

Mitosis takes place continuously in all organisms. It begins with the prophase. During this process, the chromosomes contract. This makes you visible, which is normally not the case.

During the prometa phase, the nuclear envelope then slowly dissolves.

In the metaphase, the chromosomes accumulate in the center of the cell.

Something very crucial happens during the anaphase, because now the chromosomes are divided. However, the division does not take place in the middle, but along the entire length. This turns the double helix, which actually consists of two different parts, into a single helix. This is now supplemented with amino acids from the cell plasma. From this point on, there are two sets of chromosomes. And that is the prerequisite for creating two completely new cells.

Once the divided chromosome halves have arrived in the pole region of the cell, telophase takes place. The cell envelope now also divides, which leads to the final division of the cell.

After cell division, each cell completes the process of mitosis by producing the internal structures. This includes, for example, that the nuclear envelope is placed around the chromosomes, in which the chromosome threads can then spread again and distribute in the plasma.

Cell division and the associated mitosis or cell nucleus division are among the most important biological processes for life on earth. Because this allows plants, people and animals to exist and grow at all. However, nerve cells cannot divide.
