What to write on a wedding card

instagram viewer

It is not always easy to find the right words for a wedding card. Do you write a long text or are a few short lines enough? In addition to the usual standard phrases such as happiness, health and harmony that you wish the bridal couple, you can also write an individual text. Depending on how close you are to the bride and groom or at least to one of the two partners, it is nice if you take the effort and create something of your own. This also shows a certain appreciation for the bride and groom.

Text ideas for a wedding card

  • First, look for the text for the wedding card not in the future, but in the past. Write something about getting to know them. Is there maybe a funny story about it? Or maybe you yourself contributed to the fact that the bride and groom even met? Did one of them want to, but not the other, and in the end they found each other? There is room for such a little anecdote on the wedding card before you express your wishes for the future to both of them.
  • Nowadays, in addition to the standard weddings in the registry office, there are also extraordinary places where a couple is married. Weddings take place in the zoo, on a ship or even underground. If the wedding couple has chosen such a location or event, you can refer to it on the wedding card. Perhaps that's not the only thing that's extraordinary about this couple.
  • If you invest some time and are creative, you can rhyme a few lines too. Dedicate a verse to get to know each other, a bride and groom, and a verse in which you reveal your wishes.
  • Sometimes it helps to think about what wishes you would like for your marital future. You can draw on this pool of ideas!

What do you write when you hardly know the couple?

  • There are ready-made wedding wishes and sayings on the Internet that you can copy down for the sake of simplicity. Maybe you can swap or personalize one or the other line. Beware: you might not be the only one with this text!
  • What do you want for a wedding? Formulation suggestions

When a couple decides on the common path of life and marries, one is happy ...

  • Think what exactly you know about the wedding couple - sometimes a few details are enough. Is there a special hobby, membership in the association or a voluntary activity? You can also draw conclusions about character traits such as "generous", "adventurous", or "sporty". In the wedding card, explain which characteristics of the person you have come to know and appreciate. What (positive) first impression did the bride or groom leave you?
  • Why get dissolute? A few short lines of congratulations are enough. If you don't know the couple that well, nobody expects an individual text.
