The self-made flycatcher is very useful and looks more beautiful than purchased strips, which are usually very difficult to apply.

How to make flycatchers yourself

Put all the utensils you need to make a flycatcher ready to hand on the table.

  1. Take the blotting paper in your hand and cut a strip of approx. 6 cm wide. So that you can catch as many flies as possible, you should cut the strips lengthways rather than across the paper. Blotting paper is available in stores in different colors. Therefore, you can also make colorful flycatchers yourself.
  2. So that you can later apply the adhesive layer without smearing yourself, make a hole in the cut strip at the top using a hole punch. Cut approx. 15 cm from the cord and thread it through the hole. Then the line has to be knotted well so that you can hang up the flycatcher later. Now you can unfold the newspaper and place it on the table. Place the strip of blotting paper on top of the newspaper. You can hold the flycatcher by the string so that you don't get your fingers full of the sticky liquid.
  3. Dip the brush into the maple syrup and now spread it from top to bottom on the paper strip. Since blotting paper is able to absorb a lot of liquid, the strip will certainly not stick immediately. So wait a moment for the first layer to be absorbed into the paper. Now you can repeat this process until the back of the paper is soaked in the syrup. Then sprinkle some white sugar over the strip and the self-made flycatcher is ready.
  4. Build fly traps yourself - that's how it works

Although you are not biting, stabbing, or otherwise aggressive in any way, ...

You can now attach the flycatcher to the ceiling with a thumbtack. Make sure, however, that you also attach the fly trap where the To fly prefer to stay.
