White mushrooms in the lawn

White mushrooms in the garden
- If you have discovered white mushrooms in your lawn, there are usually only three possible species. The meadow mushroom (Agaricus campestris) is also known under the name Feldegerling and has no negative effects on grass growth. This type of mushroom is neither poisonous for humans nor animals and should only be removed by you for visual reasons.
- But there are two other types of mushrooms and these can easily be confused with the non-toxic meadow mushroom. The white (Amanita virosa) and the green cap mushroom (Amanita phalloides) look very similar to the mushroom. Both species are deadly poisonous in any case.
- If it is a harmless meadow mushroom, you can see pink or chocolate brown slats under the white hat. If this is the case, you can pick the mushrooms and prepare a delicious dish from them. If the lamellas under the hats are completely white, it is a poisonous species and you should remove it as soon as possible.
- The use of chemical agents is unfortunately forbidden to fight fungus in the lawn and you have to resort to another alternative. It is best to mow the grass regularly at shorter intervals and remove the fruiting bodies completely. Wear gloves for safety. Well loosen the soil on which the mushrooms are located and water it with a larger amount of water. With a dung or digging fork, you can destroy the fungal network and remove it almost completely.
