Caring for IKEA plants properly
In addition to furniture, IKEA also offers very inexpensive indoor plants and flowers. What looks fresh in the furniture store can quickly lose its leaves at home. But with just a few simple steps you can enjoy your plants for a long time.

- At IKEA, the same rule applies to other purchases of plants: When buying the plant, make sure that it looks fresh and healthy. Read through the care instructions and consider whether the plant is suitable for the location (light, warmth, moisture) you envision. If not, use a different plant that is closer to what you want.
- Because the plants at IKEA are often offered in pots that are too small, in which the roots are not it is important to put the plant in a larger pot immediately after buying it to transplant.
- Often the plants are over-fertilized and have to get used to an environment without chemicals. Fertilize your new plant from time to time, it is also possible to improve the soil with coffee or tea. Use for Houseplants instead the liquid, not the coffee grounds or loose tea, as this can easily become moldy inside.
- Give your plants a refreshing shower every now and then (ideally about every three weeks). Over time, the dust collects on the leaves, making the plant look dull and preventing metabolism. Either spray the plant in the shower (caution: avoid the build-up of water in the pot) or wipe the individual leaves with a damp kitchen towel.
- Collect fallen leaves right away and don't leave them on the ground in the pot for too long. This promotes pest and mold infestation.
